Matthew Khan Excelerate

Our ‘Meet the Team’ series continues with Matt, our installation and project management engineer. His ability to foster strong customer relationships during project delivery, coupled with his post-delivery support, sets him apart. Rest assured, Matt is always there to assist even after projects are completed.

How long have you been at Excelerate and tell us about your job role?

I’ve been working at Excelerate for just over 9 years, starting off as an installation engineer and have since been promoted to installation and project management engineer. In my current position, I handle new installations at Excelerate, making sure everything runs smoothly.

What does a typical day at Excelerate look like for you?

No two days at Excelerate are the same, and that’s what keeps me engaged and excited about my job. Every day has brought unique challenges and opportunities, and I always look forward to the next big project.

What is your favourite project that you have worked on?

There have been many projects that I have enjoyed working on. One of my favourites has to be the Hamad Medical twenty-six tonne command and control vehicle. It was during the height of COVID-19, and I was really impressed by the team’s ability to come together, support one another, and overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic. It was tough, but being able to successfully deliver the vehicle to our customer was a proud moment for me.

What do you enjoy most about working at Excelerate?

The best thing about working at Excelerate, for me, is the team. I genuinely enjoy collaborating with my colleagues, and many of them have become close friends. I feel like there is nothing we can’t achieve, as we all want the best for each other, and our customers.

How has the industry changed since you first started your career?

The industry has dramatically changed since I first started my career with Excelerate. Being in the communications and technology industry, I’ve witnessed significant advancements in technology capabilities over the past 9 years. It’s very exciting to see how things have improved for the better.

What advice would you give to anyone who aspires to work in a similar job role as you?

If someone aspires to work in a similar role as mine, my advice would be to soak up as much knowledge in the industry as they can. Excelerate has such a large portfolio of products, and sometimes it can be challenging to have knowledge in everything. But luckily, we have such an amazing, supportive team and can always rely on each other to keep our knowledge base up to date.

If you weren’t an Installation & Project Management Engineer, what would you be?

I’m not sure, I am a very hands-on practical person. I would probably be an installation engineer or as I am also a fully qualified carpenter, I would utilise my carpentry skills and work in the construction industry.

Stay tuned for future instalments of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, as we continue to introduce you to the brilliant minds behind our organisation.
