Environment Agency extends Incident Command Unit fleet

Following the successful implementation of two Incident Command Units, the Environment Agency have teamed up with Excelerate again to extend their fleet of Command Vehicles to four.

This decision was made after the vehicles were used extensively during the recent floods caused by Storm Desmond, Eva and Frank.

As a category one responder, the Environment Agency has benefited from the use of incident command units as an invaluable tool to manage flooding and pollution incidents. The vehicles provide the tools for better on site management, situational awareness and visibility to the communities we serve.

David Bonner – Solent & South Downs Resilience Team Leader, The Environment Agency.

The satellite enabled vehicles will be deployed at major incidents throughout the UK enabling the sharing of critical information – data, video and voice – to support incident management, interoperability and enhanced situational awareness. This includes in areas where no terrestrial signal exists or has been compromised ensuring resilient communications are readily available in the toughest of situations.

I am delighted that the Environment Agency is extending their capabilities with us. It is a testament to the operational effectiveness that these solutions provide, especially in extreme environments such as flood response.

We are truly proud of the difference our solutions are making in the world and continue to push the boundaries of our technology for the benefit of our extraordinary customers.

I look forward to building on the strong partnership Excelerate have with the Environment Agency for many years to come

Nicola Savage – Managing Director, Excelerate Technology Ltd.

The vehicles will include Excelerate Technology’s new ‘ExStream’ video application enabling the Environment Agency to send live video from the incident ground to any authorised location. Multiple live video feeds can then be viewed simultaneously on a range of devices including smartphones & tablets via a secure webpage supporting ease of use.
