Excelerate Technology were announced as partner of the 5G RuralDorset project in September 2020. Led by Dorset County Council, 5G RuralDorset will explore the benefits of providing next generation connectivity to rural communities.
Of the four focus areas identified by the 5G RuralDorset project, Excelerate Technology are leading a consortium of partners on the delivery of the coastal public safety element.
With limited network coverage currently available along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, providing a 5G network to the area could have significant impact on improving public safety.
Bringing to the project extensive technical knowledge and experience in delivering resilient communications, Excelerate will work with local agencies to identify their connectivity challenges. Following the installation of our 5G infrastructure, Excelerate will then take the lead in deploying various solutions.

5G RuralDorset is a ground-breaking project to understand how next generation connectivity can help people live better, safer and more prosperous lives in rural communities, even in environments as sensitive as Dorset’s UNESCO-designated world heritage coastline. The project aims to show how 5G can make Dorset a better place to live, work and visit.
The research and development project will contribute to the understanding of how 5G can be used to address some specific challenges – public safety, economic growth, food production and environmental – as well as create new opportunities in Dorset and rural communities across the UK.
5G RuralDorset is a consortium led by Dorset Council and includes local, national and international partners. The project is part-funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and is part of its 5G Rural Testbed & Trials programme.
