In our ongoing ‘Meet the Team’ series, we introduce Jarrad, our installation and support engineer. His knack for building strong customer relationships during project delivery, along with his unwavering post-delivery support, truly sets him apart.

How long have you been at Excelerate and tell us about your job role?

I’ve been working at Excelerate for 6 years as an Installation & Support Engineer. My role involves a range of technical responsibilities, including installing equipment, configuring networks, and providing support to our clients.

What does a typical day at Excelerate look like for you?

It’s a dynamic and diverse job that involves working with various types of technical equipment. This can be both exciting and challenging. Dealing with a wide variety of equipment means each day is different which keeps me on my toes.

What is your favourite project that you have worked on?

I had a memorable and challenging experience working on the Ministry of Interior project in the UAE. Maintaining command vehicles and supporting operations across all emirates was a great experience for me. Other noteworthy projects include leading the design, build, and integration of technologies on board a vehicle for one of our New Zealand customers, as well as working on the latest Incident Command Unit for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

What do you enjoy most about working at Excelerate?

I like that we are a close-knit team and how we support each other to get the job done. Working in a supportive environment enhances job satisfaction and productivity.

How has the industry changed since you first started your career?

We constantly see progress and development in the Technology industry. Technology is rapidly advancing everyday and its exciting to see the capabilities and direction its going. It certainly benefits us and our clients.

What advice would you give to anyone who aspires to work in a similar job role as you?

If you aspire to work in a technology engineering role. My advice would be to find something that you are passionate about. The technology industry is diverse, and there are various roles available. Be patient and persistent as technology is constantly evolving. Your commitment to learning and adapting will be key to your success in a technology engineering role. I attended a 3-year College course at the age of 30 and achieved a Higher Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

If you weren’t an Installation & Support Engineer, what would you be?

It would be something similar as I’m a hands-on type of guy. I enjoy running and terminating all different types of cables. I have previous experience of working with 3-phase, HV Electrics which I enjoyed. Transitioning into a career as an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge Point Installer could be a great fit, especially with the growing demand for electric vehicles.

Stay tuned for future instalments of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, as we continue to introduce you to the brilliant minds behind our organisation.
