In the next instalment of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we’re thrilled to introduce Emilie, our exceptional receptionist.

How long have you been at Excelerate?

I’ve been a part of the Excelerate team for about nine years now. As the receptionist, I’m the first face you see when you walk through the doors or the voice on the other end of the phone line. I handle incoming calls, manage appointments, and make sure our customers are well looked after when they drop by and pay us a visit.

What does a typical day at Excelerate look like for you?

My day starts with setting up the reception area, making sure everything is tidy and ready to go. As the day unfolds, I greet visitors, assist with enquiries, and direct them to the right people or departments. I also manage the flights and accommodation bookings, handle incoming and outgoing mail, and sometimes lend a hand with administrative tasks like data entry and coordinating meetings. It’s a fun and dynamic role that keeps me busy.

What is your favourite experience working at Excelerate?

What I enjoy most of all is assisting with workshops, events, and office celebrations. Christmas is my favourite time of year and I always enjoy coordinating our festivities. It’s a joy to see everyone come together, enjoy themselves and most importantly raise money and donate gifts to some fantastic local charities.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

The thing I enjoy most is the sense of community here at Excelerate. I get to interact with so many different people from various departments, and our customers are always very polite and often comment on how much they enjoy the lunches I prepare. Plus, the positive atmosphere and support from my colleagues makes every day enjoyable.

What advice would you give to anyone who aspires to work in a similar job role as you?

My advice would be to cultivate strong communication and organisational skills. As the initial point of contact for office visitors, it’s important to maintain a welcoming and professional manner. Excellent organisational skills are crucial for managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

If you weren’t a receptionist, what would you be?

If I weren’t a receptionist, I might have pursued a career in event planning or customer service. I love interacting with people, creating memorable experiences, and ensuring everyone feels valued and attended to. So, any role that involves those aspects would likely be a great fit for me.

Stay tuned for future instalments of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, as we continue to introduce you to the brilliant minds behind our organisation.
